Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get started?

If you’re ready to send in an order gather your files on a portable USB or Firewire drive. This is the most efficient way of sending and receiving files.

Once we get your files, we can pull 20 sample images from the first order and post them for your review. We can dialogue about your preferences and how we can improve. When we are both confident, we’ll proceed and send your XMPs via email or put final JPEGs back on your hard drive.

You can submit 10 sample files via FTP at no obligation and no cost. This helps us get the dialogue started in setting up your profile.

To get information on how to send your test files, simply submit a contact form and look for instructions to follow shortly.

Image Selection: $0.09 per image submitted
Standard Color: $0.32 per Raw image
Album Designs: Art Books $4/page | Custom Albums $10/page Retouching: $70/hour (Submit images for quote.)

What is your turnaround time?

Our goal is to maintain a 5-7 business day delivery from when we receive your order. Please add one additional day for multiple orders submitted at the same time.

How do I send you my files?

We prefer drives with Firewire & USB, but any USB drive will work. See our buying guide here: Portable Hard Drive Buying Guide

Can I submit my files via FTP?

Currently we reserve FTP for international clients since traditional shipping is cost prohibitive. For domestic clients, we require a portable USB or Firewire hard drive.

The exception is for smaller volume orders. If you are a domestic client and have 300 images or less, let us know and we'll show you how to submit your files!

You can imagine with our volume how FTP can create a massive bottleneck. Average sized orders will arrive via UPS long before your FTP transfer is complete. (For example: 2,372 Raw images would take about 5 full days to upload.)

Do I get the same technician so my images will be consistent?

Not exactly- and for very good reason. What if that one technician is sick, on vacation, or already has a large workload? Your turnaround time suffers. We never want you to be in that situation.

If you have a unique formula, we like to have 2-3 technicians who are very familiar with your style and can complete your work at any time.

Do you send back my Lightroom Catalog?

We have a method that is more light weight and achieves the same goal: XMP delivery via email. XMPs contain the adjustments, labels and ratings. When you update your existing Lightroom catalog with our new XMPs, it looks like we sat down at your computer and did the work right there! It's beautiful!

Is there a minimum order?

Minimum order amount is $35. You can submit multiple orders at one time and we will bill you on the same invoice or charge the difference.

Do you use templates for your album designs?

No way! Templates are so limiting for our creative designers and we can create better designs from scratch. Do we have favorite techniques? Sure. Templates? No thanks!

Do you serve portrait photographers?

Of course! We serve photographers of all flavors: portrait, pet, bar/bat mitzvah, product, stock, and yes, wedding photographers. Our expertise is in image editing, no matter what the content.

Do you really process images for The Image is Found?

It's true! We have the pleasure of serving Nate & Jac and a crowd of inspirational trendsetters in our industry. But we also have the pleasure of serving stay-at-home moms, moonlighters, seasoned pros and first-year photographers and you know what? They all get the same fanatical service.

Do your XMPs work with Aperture?

Sadly, Adobe and Apple XMPs are incompatible. Because the two apps are distinctly different in terms and tools, the XMPs just don't translate well between them. At this time the best solution for Aperture users is to submit your Raw files and request fresh JPEGs for the return.
